Traditions as Living Legacies

As Gustav Mahler, an Austro-Bhomemian composer, well-known for his Fifth Symphony said; “tradition is not to preserve the ashes but to pass on the flame.” Coming into the Christmas period we tend to think of traditions we would like to carry on for the next generation. We tend to forget that traditions are not meant to be stagnant relics – they are supposed to be living legacies.

Being conscious about the traditions you choose to keep alive is important while making sure that you are not repeating a ritual that has expired and does not add value to your life.

Traditions are not merely about upholding the past. The best things we repeatedly do are timeless acts that inspire a better future.

To inspire a better future for yourself and your loved ones, have you thought about a new financial tradition that you would like to establish?

Establishing a new financial tradition becomes easier if you understand what the big picture of your life is. Sometimes, it takes a while to work out where you see yourself in the future due to obstacles being placed into your journey often viewed as distractions from your destination. So, ask yourself, is what I am doing today going to get me closer to where I want to be tomorrow?

If the answer is no; decide what it is that you want, write it down, set some goals, make a plan to achieve those goals and most importantly make a start and keep working on that plan every single day.

There are 365 days in a year; 365 days of opportunities as the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.
